Opened up a bottle of 2003 Fourplay last night with dinner (polenta slices baked with vodka sauce and mozzarella cheese). The wine is a blend of four native Sicilian grapes: Frappato Nero 25%, Nerello Cappuccio 25%, Nebello Macalese 25%, Nero D'Avola 25%.
It definitely wasn't a very fruity wine--earthiness, cedar and oak were more apparent. It had decent acidity, but unfortunately also an alcohol-aftertaste/feel. A bit of chilling and decanting helped that, though.
The wine is available at WineStyles stores for around $15.
