We had a bottle of Bogle Petite Sirah yesterday for Easter, along with some seared duck breast with a red wine and lingonberry reduction, and it was a delicious choice. The Petite Sirah was very jammy (blackberry, mostly), and medium to full-bodied, with easy tannins. It's also very dark purple!
Petite Sirah is the same variety as the French grape Durif. DNA testing has revealed that Syrah and Peloursin are the parents of Petite Sirah. Look for Bogle Vineyards, Fife, Concannon, and Parducci Wine Estates.
